Portrait Process

First we discuss aspects of the portrait such as single or multiple figures, mood, poses, formal or informal, clothing, size, background, lighting and hanging of the portrait. Next, we set up a date and a location for the first sitting. The first sitting includes a photography session and color study from life. Using these materials, I work with the client to reach an agreement on pose and composition. At this stage, if needed, more sittings are scheduled. Preliminary studies are prepared in my studio for the clients review before proceeding with the final portrait. The portrait is generally developed in a way that the client is able to watch the picture progress. This way, there are no surprises, comments and suggestions by the client are noted and discussed until all parties are pleased. Delivery of the finished portrait is typically within eight months of the initial sitting.

Deposit
A payment of one-forth is required before the first sitting. The deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due on completion of the portrait.
